Being Transparent About What We Can & Can't Take
At Wilmond Waste, we pride ourselves on a "no-fuss" service. That means being 100% upfront about what we can collect, what we can't, and which items incur a small surcharge due to government disposal regulations.
We are committed to our 'Zero to Landfill' policy. To maintain this standard and comply with UK environmental laws, certain hazardous materials are strictly prohibited from our general collections, while others require specialist recycling processes.
Prohibited Items (What We Cannot Take)
For the safety of our team and to comply with waste licensing laws, we cannot collect the following items under any circumstances.
If these items are hidden in a general waste collection, they may be returned or subject to a significant contamination fee.
Hazardous Chemicals: Solvents, corrosives, acids, or industrial chemicals.
Liquid Waste: Paint (in liquid form), oil, petrol, or diesel.
Medical & Biological Waste: Raw meat, raw fish, or clinical waste.
Gas Cylinders: Gas bottles (Calor, propane, etc.) or fire extinguishers.
Asbestos: Any form of asbestos or fibre cement.

Premium Items (Surcharges Apply)
Certain items require specialist recycling or disposal methods by law.
The most common of these are POPs (Persistent Organic Pollutants) found in upholstered seating, and WEEE (Electricals).
These items are charged individually on top of your load price to cover the specific disposal costs at the transfer station.
Due to recent Environment Agency regulations, all upholstered seating must be incinerated at specific facilities and cannot be landfilled or recycled with general waste.

Why are there surcharges?
We don't hide these costs. The prices listed above reflect the direct cost charged to us by commercial recycling centers.
Sofas & Armchairs: Contain chemical fire retardants (POPs) that require high-temperature incineration.
Fridges: Contain gases that must be safely extracted to prevent ozone damage.
Mattresses: Must be mechanically shredded and separated (springs vs. foam) to be recycled properly.
